In the northern regions of the United States, the winter environment is harsh, often experiencing severe snowstorms, with temperatures ranging from -20°C to -80°C. Such extreme conditions can lead to road closures, traffic congestion, and vehicle accidents. The extremely low temperatures and biting cold pose a significant threat to people’s health and even challenge their ability to travel normally.
To address this, MIT Materials Science and Engineering Department has developed a new product – DOCTIA™ Automotive Snow Removal Hydrophobic Nano Coating, to ensure that our vehicles can withstand heavy snow and ice in extreme conditions, and prevent scratches and body corrosion, prevent mechanical aging and even have self-cleaning properties on the surface!
Today, DOCTIA™ Automotive Snow Removal Hydrophobic Nano Coating has successfully overcome the challenges of mass production and entered the consumer market. It is dedicated to solving the problems of vehicles being affected by ice and snow in daily life, especially under extreme conditions.
The nano-bio morphological car anti-icing and anti-snow agent primarily consists of an alternating multiblock inorganic-organic Interpenetrating Polymer Networks (IPN) matrix and highly active surface-modified nano-ice-repellent additives. It forms a dry film of 30μm thickness on the treated surface. This unique protective layer has a wide range of applications, can cure at room temperature, aids in preventing snow and ice adhesion, and exhibits corrosion resistance, wear resistance, anti-aging properties, self-cleaning surfaces, and enhanced hydrophobicity. This helps prevent snow and ice from freezing onto the vehicle.
Using IPN (Interpenetrating Polymer Network) technology, a multiblock copolymer is created by modifying organic polymers with silicon-based inorganic polymers in an alternating arrangement. This process improves the mechanical properties such as adhesion and hardness of the coating. Additionally, the coating’s surface exhibits low surface energy. By incorporating special surface-active substances and nano rare earth oxides, the coating achieves a combination of properties including low surface energy, high corrosion resistance, strong adhesion to the substrate, reduced drag, and prevention of waxing, all through the interaction.
These coatings are characterized by their excellent hydrophobic properties, thanks to the formulation comprising IPN (Interpenetrating Polymer Networks) substrates and highly active surface-modified nano-ice and snow repellent additives. They are both anti-icing and anti-snow coatings, based on organosilicon technology. The resulting coatings exhibit excellent water-repellent qualities on their surfaces.
Let’s take a look at how DOCTIA™ Nano Car Anti-Snow Defrost Hydrophobic Agent is transforming the lives of our customers!
We had a winter storm in Texas! In the days after the blizzard hit, my house was covered in thick ice and snow, and even the windows were frozen. Unfortunately, just one day later, the roof was covered in thick icicles, making it difficult to get out. We had to spend a lot of time clearing away the snow and ice that had accumulated around my house. I feel so lucky that I prepared my car in advance with this coating. These snowflakes just landed on my car and then slid off. No trace was left behind. This lasted all winter, my car was free of annoying snow and ice, and the exterior of the vehicle did not suffer any damage or scratches. It’s almost a miracle! This was definitely one of the smartest investments I have ever made, protecting my property and safety!
